We recently introduced you to the Linde Werdelin Oktopus BluMoon fake watch with a photo realistic moon phases disc. This Oktopus BluMoon, made of grade 5 titanium, is limited to 59 pieces only. Recently, when we were visiting London, we had the opportunity to see and try the Linde Werdelin Oktopus BluMoon in the flesh.
Linde Werdelin Oktopus BluMoonOne of the first things that I noticed about the Oktopus BluMoon was the color of the case. Although I've seen polished and brushed grade 5 titanium more often, the polished parts had this white-ish look. I don't know how they managed in getting it in that particular tone, but it might have something to do with the level of polishing or perhaps the combination of satin, polished and microbillé finish that makes it stand out more in a white sort of tone.
The Linde Werdelin cases are known to be sharp. Razor sharp. Although I love this about their design, in the past the screw-down crown on some models were a bit tough to use due to the sharp edges around it. I only quickly tried it on this Oktopus, but it seems that the crown is easier to grasp than on its brothers from the Linde Werdelin Spido collection (click here for a Spidospeed review).
Not only the finish of the case is very impressive on the front side of the watch, what about the cool new engraving on the back side of the Oktopus BluMoon?
As you can see it has a new design octopus engraved together with the LW logo and the number of the watch. The Oktopus BluMoon is most of all a divers fake watch (so the Reef instrument will fit of course), so it has a WR rating of 300 meters. The blue rubber strap is obviously suitable for use under water. Don't make the mistake by using a leather strap in the water. Including those made of alligator. Although an alligator lives in and near the water, these straps are not suited for use in the water. Always use a bracelet or a rubber strap.
The blue rubber strap on this Oktopus BluMoon is very comfortable and soft, a real pleasure on the wrist and matching with the blue accents on the dial.
The dial of the Oktopus BluMoon is amazing, with the blue LW logo at 7 o'clock and the photo realistic dial showing the phases of the Moon. There are 5 layers in the dial, creating a huge amount of depth when looking at the timepiece. Combined with the different types of finish of the case its makes the fake watch visually very attractive.
Of course, for the fake watch techies there is enough to discover as well. Even though the movement isn't revealed through a transparent case back or through the (skeletonized) dial, inside ticks a bespoke LW caliber with in-house Moon phase complication. The movement is based on the renown F. Piguet caliber 1150 and has been heavily worked on for the Oktopus BluMoon https://splitweet.com.
The price for the Linde Werdelin Oktopus BluMoon is set to CHF 16,000.= (excluding VAT). More information can be found here.
